I find joy in assembling and stretching the canvas myself. I use high quality, sturdy material and pay a lot of attention to this first step in the making of a painting. It is already part of the process and a gentle entry into the conversation with the work. Lately I found pleasure in leaving the canvas partially open. The natural color and fine texture radiate naturalness and tranquility and have become part of the content and appeal of the painting.
